Fringe

Yeah, okay it moved fast I'll give the program that and yes it did "take" from a number of already produced shows. I disagree with the 80%, more like 90%. When will producers get away from big business and conspiracy theories from the government? Been there done that at least a few dozen times on all networks, YAWN.
The ending did have a twist, unpredictable at best. The older Dad scientist has some nice quirks. The young son too smart for his britches is not bad. The lead women, strong, attractive but damn who gave her the keys to the FBI shop? Looks like a setup to me.
The fast pace reminds me of Sorkin when he did West Wing.
Of course one other thought, did see three new trailers for action movies during this program. Don't suppose that was on purpose do you?
Until next time from the Backwoods.

Fringe

For weeks I’ve been hearing the hype about the new Fox show Fringe. Well, last night we watched it. (never mind that all the other networks were playing reality shows).

Did it live up to the hype? For me, that’s a yes and no answer. It was fast moving and entertaining. Yet, I think it stole a device from every sci-fi and horror flick ever made. Not that these thefts made it bad, it was just fun trying to catch them all.

As wannabe screenwriter’s, both my better half and myself predicted what would happen next 80% of the time. But, it did have a surprise twist at the end that left both of us saying ‘I didn’t see that coming’. So that moved the show up a notch or two in my book.

Will we watch it next week? Yes. Provided that the new season of Reaper isn’t on the CW at the time. If it is, well, Fringe will be taped for later viewing.

Bottom line, I wish the major networks would take a page out of Fox’s programming book and give us shows like Fringe, that are worth watching. Reality shows only give me a reason to turn the television off for the night.
